Current Happenings

Hello friends!
Last week I wrote my blog post about my first flight and about how I felt more confident about myself after facing that huge fear of mine. But this week, I didn't exactly have a plan in mind about what I'd write about.

It's not that I've been uninspired or that I had writer's block. I've just been super busy! So I figured I'd go ahead and just fill you in on what I've been up to as of late.

Last week, I went out and took some photos very spontaneously before work one day. I don't know why. I was just bored and my hair was a mess and I just figured I'd play with my best friend Megan's camera some more. I still can't get the self-timer to work, and that bums me out. But I still had a nice walk around on a sunny day.

Also Ohio's in that stage right now where the weather is currently starting to cool down a bit. The highs are in the 70s at the moment, and it is glorious. So the outfit I chose for this unofficial photo shoot was more of a transitional type of outfit. And, of course, I had to bring back my plum lipstick. I remember constantly wearing red and plum lipsticks throughout high school, since like, sophomore year. I stopped since it required a lot of checking and maintenance, but I'm determined to find a long-lasting matte shade soon. If anyone has any recommendations, please do comment them down below.

Another recent thing, my wonderful boyfriend turned 22 years old! I tried to surprise him with a lunchtime picnic but things just didn't work out. But he still encouraged me to bring my picnic stuff, and we bought Noodles & Co. in the evening and had dinner at Delco Park. It was really relaxing watching the ducks swim around while the sun was setting.

The Sunday after we landed from Myrtle Beach until this past Sunday, I worked. Every day. I accidentally almost put myself into overtime since I volunteered for one of those shifts, but it felt great to get back into the swing of things after being gone for an entire week.

I started school this week. I attend classes in Dayton on Monday through Thursday. And, man, it's already a lot. I'm currently taking a Typography course, Print Production, and Design Processes II. My professors are all pretty awesome, in my opinion. They all seem pretty dedicated to their jobs.

I was pretty nervous about Typography, but I think it'll be a class that'll help me with time management. We already have some hefty assignments for it. But I've already been working hard and hopefully that can continue for me through the rest of the semester. Print Production seems pretty interesting (there's a lot of technology I need to understand, but overall I think it'll be a pretty fun course).

And I was honestly iffy about Design Processes II, just because I heard we'd be coding. Now, I learned how to do HTML coding in high school, but it's been a couple of years. I'm actually already enjoying re-learning all of it! I feel like I'm geeking out about it a bit, but come on. I had the same giddy feeling when I was a field commander in high school. Learning the counts and notes in music gives me the same kind of thrill that coding gives me! I find it exciting going more in depth of stuff like that. Music is something I hear every day. Knowing those counts gave me an even bigger appreciation for music. And I use my iPod and laptop nearly every day, so being reunited with code makes me feel really excited. I can't wait to go more in-depth with that kind of technology.

Learning even the most simple concepts of code is honestly really beneficial. There was a time when a video wouldn't load for me (a video that was required for a class assignment), so I viewed the HTML code for that website and it had a blurb telling me that if I had issues loading me video to take however many steps and switching my browser to view it. So that was honestly super helpful. Okay, okay. I'll stop talking about it now. But it really is fun.

Other than that, I'm just trying to practice goal-setting and staying organized this semester. I still want to write one blog post every week (I don't know how well I'll be able to continue posting a new video every two weeks, but I'll try my best with my small slot of free time). My blog is a big priority of mine and I do want it to be successful, so I'm determined to stay on track with it.

So yeah. Those are the current happenings of my life. What's going on in yours?

Thank you all for reading! Please stick with me through my busy schedule, because, like I said, I'm determined to keep posting weekly. Keep on grinning!

Lydia
