Hello friends,
Happy August! I hope this muggy summer has been treating you well.

I've been trying to get out more lately, both by catching up with old friends and by promoting my art at different local events. It's required a frequently recharged social battery, but I do my best. But while I've been trying to conjure up the  energy to keep chugging through this busy summer, I also had a spontaneous urge to change my hair--and I went with purple.

So for today's post, I'm embracing that fresh purple hair with a vibrant gradient eyeliner look.

It's a subtle pop of color in my makeup, but it's probably my favorite twist to do. I remember, when my hair was pink, I loved doing pink pops of color in my eye shadow or lip shades. It's just an extra fun way to celebrate temporary hair colors.

So without further a do, enjoy my quick and casual tutorial :)

To begin my look, I started with a clean slate. My face was fresh and moisturized. Like I say in all of my makeup posts, I use a regular facial moisturizer as a primer. It works for me, at least!

After moisturizing, I touched up some of my blemishes with concealer, added a dewy highlight (Halsey's About Face roller highlighter, as seen above), added a touch of liquid blush, and applied an eyebrow pencil as well (another product by About Face).

Once I was all prepped, I used a Glossier primer (I know, a real primer for once) as my base for this liner. I used a spare brow brush and dipped it into the primer, drew my cat eye shape, and then went in with a deep purple glitter eye shadow to form that flick. I did use a Morphe palette for this look, but like I mention in all my recent beauty posts, I'll be using all my palettes until they expire, as to avoid waste. I do intend to strictly buy vegan and/or cruelty free beauty products now. Morphe might be cruelty-free, but vegan is the ultimate goal in the future.

Once I completed the pass with that first purple shadow, I dipped into a neighboring violet shade, one that was slightly lighter, and applied it to the more inner-area of my eyelid, just to add some dimension and movement in my shape.

After this, I apply a generous amount of setting powder to my face and completed some finishing steps, like cleaning any fall-out of glitter flecks from my cheeks, adding mascara, and adding a smidgen of a matte lippy. Here are the final pics:

Thank you guys for checking out this more casual post today. I hope you enjoyed the look! I don't know how long I'll keep the purple hair, but it was definitely a fun temporary change.

Do something that makes you feel beautiful <3
& Keep on grinning!
