DIY Decorative Container

8/9/2014

Hello friends! Today, because I haven't posted in nearly a week, I thought I should post something I haven't done in such a long time. So here's a new DIY for you all to learn! Back to school time is coming up and I feel it is only appropriate to help students of all ages practice decent organizational habits before they start their first day. So here it is, my latest DIY!

To start, you will need:

-Scissors

-Tape

-A pen or pencil

-An old container

-Scrapbook paper

Picture
Begin by rinsing out the container of any crumbs or juices. It has a lid with it, but using tat is optional. If you decide you use one with your container if yours came with a lid, rinse it too and leave it off of the container so the container can air out. Mine used to be filled with cashews.

Next, choose a scrapbook paper design. I'm going with this old books page for a vintage feel.

Yes, I am aware the inside of my container is still watery. It'll dry. For now, make sure none of it gets on the outside and all over the paper. Begin wrapping your paper around the container. Feel free to use tape to help set the paper and keep it sturdy for the next step. Be sure the top of the paper touches around the top of your container. My container has a tin sort of ridge at the top, so I'm leaving my scrapbook paper just below that (so in case I decide to use my lid, it can still secure over that tin ridge).

Peak inside the paper circle that is hanging off of your container. Stick your pen or pencil in there and draw a circle on the paper that touches the bottom of the container. Next, begin trimming that down.

Tape the bottom where the paper was just trimmed. Doesn't it look so cool so far? Be sure you leave this to sit out if it's still wet on the inside!

...Aaaaaand you're finally done! Wasn't that simple?

Well I hope this was helpful to anyone interested in finding cute and personalized organization DIYs. If you have any Back-To-School blog post requests from us, let us know in the comments! Thanks for reading! Coming soon, my long month of hair tutorials for the end of summer!
