Sunny Makeup Tutorial

6/8/2017

Hello friends!
Today's blog post might be a little more challenging to follow. I attempted to take photos for a tutorial, but sometimes my camera doesn't cooperate as much as I'd like it to. So a lot of my photos unfortunately turned out blurry.

But despite the amount of photos I can't use in this blog post, I had a lot of fun with this look. It turned out nice and vibrant, so I still definitely want to publish what I have.

So I hope you folks enjoy this attempt at a warm, kind of summer-y makeup tutorial.

Let's get started!

So, since the sun has been shining all week, I decided to begin by using Covergirl CG Smoothers BB Cream as my primer. It not only moisturizes--it also protects my skin!

The first product I use after the primer/moisturizer is my e.l.f. brow kit. It's a duo of a lighter shade (which is the powder) and a darker variation of that shade (the gel). In my kit, I have two brown tones.

When using this product, I like to start with the lighter of the two shades and apply it in the inner part of my brows, just filling in where my hairs fade out a bit.

I then take the dark gel and use it to create almost a gradient. The darker shade helps to make a neater eyebrow arc and tail. So essentially my brow goes from light to dark starting from the inner corner to the outer bit.

The next couple steps (which are not pictured, unfortunately) are where I take a narrow brush and draw Maybelline Fit Me! foundation around my completed brows to clean them up a bit. I also applied that same dewy Fit Me! foundation to the rest of my face and down my neck a bit.

Next, I start applying eye shadow. This is the exciting part! For this, I used the Morphe 25A Copper Spice palette and the Morphe 35 F palette (not pictured). The only shade I used of the 35 F was the lightest shimmer shade (which I used for my highlight under my brow and even on my cheek bones).

For my eyelids, however, I used this beautiful yellow gold shade from 25A Copper Spice and applied it to the inner corners.

I then apply this shimmery red from the same palette onto the outer part of my lid. I like to create sort of a blend between the two shades.

I then complement my shimmery shades with a red matte shade from that same palette. I apply this heavily (blended in using my Stella 12 brush) into and above my crease. I have a lot of fun with this part.

Next I use my FAQ liquid eyeliner. Of course I drew on a snazzy cat eye! I appreciate this liner since it does stay really well, however it looks kind of shiny when it dries. This is why I tend to dab black eye shadow right over my eyeliner to make it matte.

I also used a narrow brush and applied the same shimmery yellow-gold and red shadows along my lash line to pull the whole look together.

Once the liner is dry, I use e.l.f. setting powder on top of my eye makeup to ensure it's in place all day.

After that, I curl my lashes and apply my Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I also take the time to bronze my cheeks and forehead, even under my jawline. I finish the look by using the e.l.f. setting powder all over mah face.

Oh, and let's not forget to add some lipstick! I use some Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy in 160 Discreet.

Thank you all so much for reading today. I hope this post wasn't too difficult to comprehend! I had a lot of fun with this look and I'm sure I'll wear it again soon.

Keep on grinning!
