Back to Columbus

Hello friends!
Lately, I've been craving to go on an adventure. Even if it was to a place Tyler and I have already visited before.

Tyler and I have been to the Short North two other times, and both visits were a little over a year ago. So we decided it was finally time we went back. There was definitely more of that artsy district that needed to be explored.

First stop, GLEAM

So the first shop we visited was a place called Gleam--a tiny, hidden shop filled with creations from many local artists. On some of the displays, they hung tags that gave little blurbs that described the artists. That was something that I really appreciated. I loved seeing many unique pieces from many creative minds. However, out of all the beautiful pieces, I only ended up purchasing this pin. It reads, take my hand run fast. I don't know if it's a quote from somewhere specific or what exactly it means, but to me, I think of being spontaneous and finding the bravery to branch out.
And, thinking back, the Short North was so crowded when Tyler and I went on Saturday. I even found myself a little anxious to step into some of the shops. But he and I held hands and journeyed through any shop that intrigued us, and I had a wonderful time. So no matter what the true meaning of the pin is, I just find it a reminder to stay calm and to just have fun.

Although I didn't get any photos of the actual shop, I made sure to snap a photo of my outfit, which was completed by the pin. The creator of the pin is Vanessa Jean Speckman, and with a little research, I found her Etsy shop. You can search for her items here. And if you just want to check out the selection of pins, you can click here.

Next Stop: Dinner!

Although it would've been nice to try something new, I needed to get that chicken platter again. It was so good. So, like our second visit to the Short North, Tyler and I once again had dinner at Happy Greek. They have the best bread and the best chicken and the best salad and the best outdoor seating and ugh. It's just such a comfortable place to visit to enjoy a quick, delicious meal.

I almost always prefer sitting outside to eat. I mean, who doesn't enjoy the fresh air?,

Time for Dessert...

Another place we revisited this time was Jenis. But this was after we ran back to our parking lot to pay for parking since we lost track of time. Quite a journey, but we payed for 3 more hours there, just in case we wanted to explore more.

Besides the beautiful decorations, I absolutely love the ice cream. My trio consisted of sweet cream, salty caramel, and milkiest chocolate. I also made sure to taste the Black Cat Espresso and it was amazing! But I ended up deciding to stick to a simple yet amazing flavor combination. Tyler decided to go for churro and xocorosa, because he's fancy like that.

Coffee Break!

I get it--the majority of our time here was spent walking and eating. But at this point, it was getting late and Tyler started feeling sleepy. Because he was the driver, he needed to wake up a bit! So he requested we find a coffee shop and grab a cup. So we quickly made our way into One Line Coffee and they hooked us up! He ordered the honey latte, and I went for the iced mocha latte.

Cute, isn't he?

Sigh, the day is done.

After coffee, Tyler and I decided to take a look at a couple more clothing shops. And, after not purchasing anything else, we decided that our 5-hour adventure was pretty much a success. So from Columbus, we finally headed home. The whole way there, we listened to Aurora and just talked about any ol' thing. Before he dropped me off, however, we decided to visit his parents and to squeeze in a couple episodes of Stranger Things (it's intense). Overall, it was an amazing trip and I wouldn't have wanted to spend it with anybody else.

Thank you, Tyler, for making that day absolutely wonderful. You never fail to make me smile. It honestly doesn't matter if we go on an adventure an hour away or if we stay in for the evening. Any moment with you is refreshing and delightful. Thank you for driving that far. You da bomb, Tylon.

Thank you folks for reading! Take time to go on an adventure once in a while. It'll be totally worth it. Keep on grinning!

XO Lydia
