My Nightly Skincare Routine

10/25/2016

Hello friends!
Lately I've found a part of beauty that I never really  took time to do, to understand, and and to truly enjoy: skincare.

If you know me, you know my skin isn't exactly the best. Because when I'm anxious, I have a habit of scratching at my skin. This could be anywhere on my arms, on my legs, even on my face. So since starting classes, my anxiety levels have been low, then high, then low again, and my skin is an inconsistent journey of spots and clarity. Lately, this has been an issue on my face. So I've started experimenting with products that could make my skin a little happier.
I think the first item I used that inspired me to even purchase more products was the e.l.f. Hydrating Face Primer. It just always left my skin feeling super soft after I washed off my makeup. This led me to explore a whole range of products that I never realized I needed. And, since using them, I've gotten some compliments on my skin. And basically all of these products are used at night.
With all of this said, I think it's only right to take you through my nightly routine (AKA my skincare routine).

Step 1: Makeup Removal

What better way to start winding down than by removing my makeup? My skin is pretty sensitive, so most of the time I find that it gets easily irritated by makeup wipes. Luckily, I got a sample of Make Up For Ever's Waterproof Sensitive Eye Cleanser from Sephora a few months ago. I don't know if I actually use it properly, but I massage it around my eyes to sort of pick up that tough-to-remove makeup so that I don't have to scrub my face too hard with the wipes. Next, once my makeup is smeared all around my eyes, making me look like a crazy raccoon, I gently wipe everything away with my e.l.f. Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths. Using both products helps my skin feel little to no irritation.

Step  2: A Quick Bubble Bath (or Shower)

Sometimes it's just nice to pour some steamy water and to just sit in it. I found that adding a bit of baby oil to my baths help my skin feel smooth and relaxed. I also like to mix up which products I use each night, depending on how mellow I want to become. I usually go for more flowery scents when it's early, and more warm, desserty scents when I'm about to go to bed.

Step 3: Washing my Face

After I'm finally done bathing, I take time to wash my face with my Olay Foaming Face Wash. This face wash is so gentle and doesn't leave my face feeling dry or oily. I like to follow this by dampening one end of a Q-tip and brushing it along my lash line to remove any makeup that gets trapped in there.

Step 4: Bioré,  Bioré,  Bioré!

Not only is it fun to say, it's fun to use! After my face is nice and clean, I re-dampen my nose with warm water and stick a Bioré strip to it. I ended up running out of the nose strips, so for this post I actually used the strip intended for the forehead. It still does the trick! And if I don't choose to use the Bioré strip some nights, I apply a sheet mask or some clay mask. It's just fun to go the extra mile, you know?

Step 5: The Final Touch

After removing those black heads, I apply some e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer to my face, mostly around the nose area. And right before I get tucked into bed, I apply some e.l.f. hydrating sleep mask to my skin. These products leave my skin feeling super soft and super refreshed.

Thank you all for requesting  this nightly routine! I ended up making it into more of a skincare routine since, well, that's pretty much all that I do with my evenings. I hope you enjoyed this post, and I wish all of you an amazing rest of your week.

Keep on grinning!
