Room Tour

Hello friends!
A few weeks ago I posted yet another poll on Twitter, asking what you folks would like to see on my blog next. Well, out of only several votes, the most voted option was a room tour. So here we go!

Part of me was kind of happy that Twitter voted for this one. It forced me to finally get around to cleaning up my room. Usually I'm not too much of a slob, but sometimes my room just gets out of hand. A cluttered room is a cluttered mind, so preparing for this post felt so good.

I guess I can take you from one side of my room to the other. The lighting when I took these was a little tricky, so I hope you don't mind any fuzziness that might occur.

My Dresser

I figured I start by introducing you to probably the most interesting part of my room, one that I'm always using. And since I'm always using it, I like to keep it decorated with pretty things.

I keep the space tidy with a mug and box from Marshalls to hold my makeup items, and a beautiful round jar (that a friend gave to me on my birthday a couple years ago) to hold some of my jewelry. Another dear friend gave me the little blue drawers for my birthday this year. In the top drawer, I keep my bobby pins and hair ties. And in the bottom drawer, I keep my nail clippers, tweezers, and little nail gems. In my mirror, I tucked away a little oil pastel drawing I made of northern lights atop purple mountains, and some motivational quotes to inspire me in the morning. On the right of the blue drawers is a candle that Angie made for me for Christmas. Thank you to Megan, Chelby, and Angie for helping me to gradually decorate my dresser!

My Shelves

Recently I've aimed to decorate my room in a more minimalist fashion. So I've recently cleaned out my shelves and tried to make everything as open as possible.

Lately, I've been loving green in my room. Touches of green brighten my day, as if I'm bringing nature indoors with me. Although the only plants I currently have in my room are fake, normally I try to keep one or two live ones in there with me, too. The vase used to be completely white, but I decided to spice it up a bit and add the touches of gold. On the right, I keep a little basket of bracelets, and on the left sits a little sand cactus. Filling the shelves are Bath & Body Works aromatherapy products, a souvenir from California (thank you Tyler :D), some miscellaneous glasses, a candle warmer from Tyler's parents, a collection of Teen Vogue magazines, and an adorable camera piggy bank from Angie.

My Walls

I don't think a room is complete without a little bit of wall decor!

On the left of my shelves, my stepdad helped me hang up a bulletin board. I pin pretty outfit photos from Pinterest, cute notes from Tyler, and my old field commander whistle. My school I.D. was sitting in front of one of his notes, so I blanked it out because I'd rather keep that to myself (hehe it's just an awkward lil' photo). I also hung up little letters that I cut out to spell my name, a frame that Megan made for me for my eighteenth birthday, and a little record that I framed.

My Closet

This is definitely another frequently-used part of my room.

In my closet, I of course have my clothes hung up. I keep my dresses and pants on the left, and my shirts and sweaters on the right. Also on the left side of my closet, my craft supplies and books sit on the shelf. My string lights are hung up, and are typically only used for blog posts and for nights when I just want to feel a little extra cozy.

My Bed

One of my favorite places to visit.

I come here to sleep, to keep warm, to write, to think...and even to do absolutely nothing.

Thank you all so much for reading and for being active on Twitter (because you readers voted for this one!). I really enjoy hearing what you guys are interested in seeing, so leave a comment on this post if you have a request for something else. Have a great week, and keep on grinning!

Very well done Lydia. Your room is definitely a reflection of you, beautiful and warm!
