Summer Favorites (2017)

9/1/2017

Hello friends!
Lately things have continued to cool off in Ohio. To prepare for fall, I decided it was finally time to write my summer favorites post to show you what items I've been loving through this past season.

To be honest, this post might be a bit all over the place. It'll include anything from skincare to pillow mist. But without further a do, I'll begin!

Caudalie Serum and Moisturizer

Okay so this is a product that I got more recently. But I didn't want to forget to include it, because I actually do really like it. Tyler spontaneously signed up for a sephora account and snagged this for me on his birthday (which I did not tell him to do, he just did it for fun I guess). But I really appreciated that he did that, because this stuff really does make my skin feel fresh and smooth. The serum, I have to say, smells a bit weird (I can't tell...it smells kind of strong, maybe herb-y?), but once the moisturizer is on, everything smells normal. I know that;s a weird concern of mine, but the scent of something is important to me if I'm using it on my skin. If it smelled overly chemically, I wouldn't have felt safe using this product. But it was a success!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Wateproof Mascara

First of all, I really appreciate the product's presentation. I think it's so creative and genuinely looks like real water droplets. Also, this design almost makes it easier to open if I have foundation or primer all over my hands (yes, I use my hands to apply some of my makeup). This really does stay on well, although I know some people have complained about it on Sephora's website, saying it clumped a lot. I think the longer I've had it (it's maybe two months old, now), the more it has appeared clumpy. But I still use it because it actually stays on my lashes through the day.

Last-minute disclaimer: Ironically, as I'm writing this, I feel some residue in my lashes. Be sure to remove it to the best of your ability! I used micellar cleansing water last night and it definitely didn't take all of it out of my lashes. They've felt kind of itchy today and I accidentally just pulled out some lashes from picking out the clumps. A makeup remover I use that does successfully remove it is the Mary Kay oil-free makeup remover. So definitely be sure that you remove all of it to prevent irritation. And try not to pull at your lashes if it does irritate. I feel bad for writing a negative tidbit about it, because I do love this product, but I think it's important that I give a truly honest review.

Abe's Hidden Treasures Body Lotion

Support your local businesses! I found this hidden treasure at a local shop in my town. Abe's Hidden Treasures has salt lamps, bath bombs, unique candies, and so much more. I bought this lotion about a month ago and I just think it smells so amazing and floral-y. And it also moisturizes so well.

Morphe 25B Bronzed Mocha Palette

I had to include this in my Summer favorites since, well, I use this palette every day! It has amazing, everyday wearable shades. I added this to my Spring Favorites post from this year because I really do love Morphe's formula in their eye shadows. They have such amazing pigment and I feel like I can't go wrong with them..

All the Scents

This summer, I've been loving fresh scents. So I have a lovely pillow spray from Marshalls, some Peppermint essential oil from CVS Pharmacy, and a super cute candle from Target. Not only do I like the colors of these products, but I also think they all smell really nice. They aren't florally or sweet, but just super fresh. That's honestly the only way I can describe it. I think the reason I like these is because they're genuinely very soothing for my anxious self. The pillow spray adds a nice touch of comfort to my sheets and pillow covers (the combination of eucalyptus and aloe vera is genius). I wore the peppermint oil when I was on the plane ride to South Carolina and I think the fact that it's peppermint helped to calm me down. I'd even apply it some nights during vacation if I felt anxious at all (as I was adapting to the new room that I was staying in for the week) and it was very helpful. And finally, this candle just gives a nice subtle, but not exactly citrus-y aroma to my room to help me concentrate when I'm up late doing homework or writing blog posts. Gotta love it!

Anyways, that's it for this blog post. Thank you all so much for reading! What kinds of products have you been loving this summer?

Remember to keep on grinning!

Lydia
