What I've Learned So Far

Hello friends!
Recently (about a week ago), Grins & Needles turned TWO YEARS OLD.

I know what you're thinking--why didn't you celebrate your blog's birthday? What duh heck?! I promise, I remembered. I just had absolutely horrid writer's block. But now I'm back. And more inspired than ever.

About a month ago, one of my best friends, Brooke, and I went for a little photo shoot. I wanted to give her what I call "the blogger treatment"; I wanted to show her sort of how I do things. And since we were in town, it took a lot more courage (cat-callers are real, people!).

So in two years, you bet I've learned a lot when it comes to blogging. First off, I've learned that support from those you love is amazing. When I first started my blog, hardly anyone had a clue about it. I was too scared to share anything with anyone. But after a year of G&N being public, things have just been more successful. I've been receiving offers and E-mails from several companies, I've earned 50 YouTube subscribers, and I've been able to share my life with others who don't know me well at all.

Next, I learned to appreciate the blogging community. At first, I felt intimidated. I thought, there's no way I can stand out amongst all of these talented bloggers. But now, I'm realizing that bloggers support each other. I read so many different blogs. And I love to take part in blogger chats on Twitter. Everyone has their own passions and all blogs differ.

Third, I learned to just have fun with it. To take risks. To take bright photos. To take dull photos. To just enjoy what I make. And to only publish posts believe in and am truly proud of.

Lastly, I learned to find my voice--and to use it. Yeah, all bloggers might talk about somewhat similar topics and interests. But everyone feels passionate about very different things. My blog is my way to share my story. To share my issues, and to find positives in them. To feel stronger. To feel less alone. And to grow.

Thank you all for reading. And a huge thank you to Brooke for going on a photo shoot with me. Have a terrific weekend, everyone!

"...to feel stronger, less alone, and to grow." How wonderful is that!!?? You are remarkable for your age. You are remarkable for a 50 year old.

I really love your blog! Do you have a Bloglovin account I could follow it with? My blog is fairly new as I only started it a couple months back. The blogging community kind of scared me at first, but as I got to know my readers, I saw that everyone supported each other, and that's great. Now every follow and comment makes me smile, regardless if I haven't got thousands of people reading. It's the ones that keep coming back :)

Hello Kyia!
Beautiful name, by the way. Thank you so much for stopping by. I'm glad to hear that you're receiving support from the blogging community. Everyone really is unique and wonderful. I unfortunately do not have a Bloglovin account, but I'd love to check out your blog sometime. :D
